Betty Ford Alpine Gardens offers internships to students in horticulture,
botany, landscape architecture and related disciplines. Interns participate
in a variety of learning activities including horticulture industry
and public garden field trips and mountain hikes. Adult lectures and
workshops on various horticultural topics are also available to interns
who are interested. Of course, the hands-on experience gained in day-to-day
garden activities with the Gardens staff is the most valuable to interns.
Interns complete a project related to their particular interest
and the specific need of the Gardens. Recent intern projects have
contributed greatly to our Volunteer
and Children's Programs as well as high-elevation medicinal plant
collections and garden design. The projects and garden work interns
complete are clearly valuable learning opportunities but are also
essential for the success of Betty Ford Alpine Gardens.
Interns work for a period of twelve consecutive weeks typically
from mid-May to mid-August. Exceptions may be made for outstanding
applicants with schedule conflicts. Summer,
2008 Internships are offered in the areas of Gardens/Education.
